Call for Artists! Longview Public Library Youth Mural

To celebrate the history of Longview, the Longview Public Library is commissioning local artists to create a mural in the Youth Services section of the Library beneath the main staircase. The mural will commemorate the City of Longview’s centennial and will encapsulate a youthful look and feel including hide and seek squirrels and more. Ideally the mural will trace the history of the area, from indigenous peoples through current day in a playful style appropriate for a library youth area.

The mural will be painted on already constructed custom canvas panels, as well as the surface of a wooden door. Upon completion, the murals will be photographed and published in various marketing efforts.

This commission is open to all professional artists. An artist honorarium of $1500, plus the cost of materials will be provided. These funds are generously provided by the Longview Library Foundation.

The mural must be substantially complete by March 31, 2023.
