Help Us Make an Impact for Parks

Since 1997, the City of Longview has annually approved $25,000 for the Neighborhood Park Grant Program.  2022 marks 25 years in matching funds given to groups, organizations, and schools to improve our park system.  The City of Longview is excited to announce that the Parks and Recreation Department is requesting applications for the 25th Annual Neighborhood Park Grant Program.   This program provides matching funds for park capital improvement projects.  The deadline for submitting an application is Friday, February 11, 2021.

The City is committed to promoting and sustaining an environment that is responsive to resident involvement.  The intent of the grant program is to encourage teamwork and involvement partnering together towards improving parks and play spaces.  Service groups, neighborhood groups, athletic organizations, and businesses can apply for all or a portion of the available $25,000 to match with their own funds and/or in-kind services and materials.  The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board will review the applications received and make recommendations to the City Council about which project(s) should be funded.

Examples of qualifying projects include:  land acquisition; purchase of playground equipment, picnic shelters, benches, signs, and landscape components; construction of sports courts such as tennis and basketball; development of hiking and biking paths; and athletic field development.

Applications for funds are handled through the Parks and Recreation Department.  Interested parties may obtain application forms from the Recreation Office at 2920 Douglas St., or online at  For additional information, please contact Parks and Recreation Director Jennifer Wills at 442.5400.
