[ARCHIVED] Census 2020 - Remember You Count!

Census 2020 Logo

It’s 2020, which means it’s Census time. This is your opportunity to support our community today and for the next ten years by getting counted. All you have to do is follow the instructions in the letter that will be mailed to your home by the U.S. Census Bureau. Participating in the Census is quick and easy, and lets policymakers know that you matter. If you’re concerned or fearful about providing information, please understand that longstanding laws and procedures are in place to keep participants and their information safe. The Census’ purpose is to ensure that communities’ needs are met, so don’t miss this opportunity to be counted.

City of Longview encourages community

to be counted in 2020 Census

The City of Longview asks all residents to take part in the 2020 Census by filling out the on-line form, because “Everyone Counts”!

The 2020 Census is a once in a decade opportunity to influence decisions that directly affect your daily life. Every 10 years, the U.S. Census Bureau counts every person in the United States. As part of its “Everyone Counts!” campaign, the City of Longview is promoting awareness of the upcoming 2020 census.

“Participating in the Census is vital for our community to receive the resources it needs to provide much needed services and thrive,” said City Manager Kurt Sacha. “The U.S. Census is used to distribute funds for schools, health and social services, roads, and the other programs that make our community a special place to live and raise a family. Being counted helps ensure that communities are represented accurately in Congress and the Washington Legislature. For these reasons, we strongly encourage all residents of our community to be counted in 2020.”

When your 2020 Census postcard reminder arrives in the mail, head to any library in Cowlitz County to fill out your 2020 Census on-line. There will be trained staff available to help!
