The fire investigation program is tasked with determining the origin and cause of fires, implementing the Arson Team, and working with juvenile fire setters.
Fire Loss Problems
The information gathered from investigations is used to identify fire loss problems and trends so they can be mitigated in the future. Fire investigators also work with the Longview Police Department to form an arson team that investigates fires that are suspicious in nature or determined to have been intentionally set. The Arson Team is dedicating to solving crimes involving arson and prosecuting those responsible.
Juvenile Fire Setter Program
The juvenile fire setter program uses trained firefighters to help identify children with fire fascinations and help them and their parents seek appropriate counseling at an early age to discourage the future misuse of playing with fire.
