NW Voices presents May’s Vote at Longview Public Library

To commemorate the centennial of women’s suffrage in Washington state, on Monday, May 4, 2009 at 7 p.m. in the Magazine Room spend an evening with two Washington state suffragettes – prim & proper Emma Smith DeVoe (portrayed by Barbara Callander) and outrageous & flamboyant May Arkwright Hutton (portrayed by Toni Douglass) – as they work together towards a common goal of gaining Washington state women’s right to vote.

Written in 1988 under a grant from the Washington State Centennial Commission, May’s Vote has toured extensively throughout Washington since 1989, including two years as part of The Inquiring Mind Program of Humanities Washington.

Brought to the community through Northwest Voices, this program is free and open to the public.  Refreshments will be served.
