NW Voices Presents Poet Kathleen Flenniken
Please join us on Tuesday, January 27, 2009, at Longview Public Library for a special poetry event in honor of William Stafford’s birthday. At 6:30 p.m. Kathleen Flenniken will hold a reading by the fire in the Magazine Room followed by an open mic session. Refreshments will be served.
Kathleen Flenniken lives in Seattle. Before coming to poetry she worked as a Civil Engineer for eight years, three of those at Hanford where her father also worked as an engineer. Although her first award-winning collection Famous featured many poems that focus on her daily domestic life, relationships, family, and belonging, her work in progress looks at Hanford and details of its history and people from quite a few varied perspectives. Flenniken’s poems have appeared in numerous publications and she has received several fellowships, including a 2005 Literary Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts. Bookchat will feature an interview with Flenniken on KTLV.
Please join us as we meet in front of the fire and hear this notable poet share her poetry. Refreshments will be served. All events are free and open to the public. Northwest Voices is funded by the Longview Public Library and Lower Columbia College, Friends of the LPL, LPL Foundation, LCC Foundation, and, LCC’s ASLCC.
