Altered Book Workshops
Posted Date: 1/3/2019
Longview Public Library invites you to sign up for a free Altered Book Informational
Workshop with local artist, Susan Supola. Susan will teach you the how-tos to take a book and
make it into something spectacular - no experience necessary! You can use any book (old, new,
recycled or multiple – but NOT a library book!) and cut, tear, glue, fold, draw, paint, or
otherwise create exciting additions and alterations to the pages in any way you can dream up!
This is a fun, pressure-free way to get creative and make a very unique piece of art.

Two informational workshops will take place on January 19. The first session will be from 1:00
p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and the second session will be from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Each workshop is
limited to 25 participants, and you only need to sign up for one of the sessions. Basic materials
will be provided and registration is required.

These workshops are highly recommended for anyone participating in Art Speaks Volumes - an
event brought to you by the Longview Library Foundation and The Friends of the Library. Art
Speaks Volumes invites creative people of all ages to make altered books for a silent auction on
April 27 (all proceeds from the auction will be used to benefit library programs).

Please call the Longview Library at 360.442.5300 for more information on Art Speaks
Volumes, or to sign up for the Altered Book Workshops.
