Burn ban in effect
Posted Date: 7/11/2018
You may have seen that the burn ban went into effect on July 1st this year for Cowlitz and Clark Counties. What does that mean for City of Longview residents? Not too much. The burn ban is for outdoor burning, which is already not allowed in the City of Longview, and enforced by Southwest Clean Air Agency http://www.swcleanair.org.

Here are some common questions we get and the answers.
• Can I have a recreational fire in my backyard?
*Yes! You are allowed to have a small fire that burns clean seasoned fire wood in an approved fire pit in your backyard.
• Can I use my BBQ?
*Yes! You may use your BBQ.
• May I burn yard debris in my fire pit?
*No. You may only burn clean seasoned fire wood in your fire pit.
• Who do I call if I have a smoke complaint?
*Southwest Clean Air Agency is the enforcing agency for outdoor burning. They can be reached either at their website or at 360-574-3058.

Remember if you decide to have a small recreational fire to burn responsibly, never leave your fire unattended, have an extinguishing source nearby, and be 25 feet away from any structure or combustible materials including overhead fuels.
